Hello Fae Friends,
I’ve been discovering the winter Fae of Decay in these last few eco printing sessions of the season. Playing around with fall leaves, iron mordant, and onion-skin dye-baths has produced some beautiful, dark, and mysterious prints full of the Fae of Decay.
Truly gorgeous shades of purple, blue, sepia, and rich blacks (from the iron mordant) have all been emerging from these sessions. Here’s a few of the prints right out of the dye-baths:

And, of course, there are a whole host of Fae ushering the leaves through their stages of decay.
There was one piece I had to start on immediately as the Fae within it were calling my name. Patience is clearly not one of their virtues (which seems odd given how long some stages of decay can be).
Anyway, here is the first finished piece (front on the left & back on the right)

They have not yet given me their names. However, the did share a little ditty:
A game we play With the ground on which we stray Light and color As we sway With the wind And do rescind The way In which With the air we played To on the ground Be laid out With scream and shout Our piles you route out To play To decay To wash away To in the soil stay Decay is my way To stay Useful
It has me thinking of all the ways aging, decay, and death are useful and beautiful.
And how things “stay” even as they "decay” and “wash away.”
What about you? Let me know what you see or sense in these Fae of Decay.
Love All Ways,
